OUR HISTORY


SCHOOL HISTORY
The Mckechnie school of dance has been
established since 1962. Starting off with Highland and Scottish national Dancing in Grangemouth.
We have students from all over Grangemouth,
the Falkirk area, Linlithgow, Larbert, Stenhousemuir,Polmont, Bannockburn, Seafield, Whitburn, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Menstrie, Stirling, Corby and even annual holiday students from Florida.


EXAMS
Since 1962, pupils have successfully taken exams in B.A.T.D and S.D.T.A Associations under the umbrella of the S.O.B.H.D. Many have sat Associate, Membership Fellowship and the
S.O.B.H.D judges test which then enables them
to be a recognised adjudicator.In addition, pupils
now have the opportunity to take exams in
RAD ballet


DEMONSTRATION WORK
Members of the school have been invited to dance all over the world to demonstrate their dancing, such as South Africa, New Zealand, Boston USA, France, Greece, Poland and Canada.Many have danced for the Queen, Princess Anne, Princess Diana, on Sky television, Hamden park, BBC1, The Olympic games and more recently starred in Glasgow 's Clyde auditorium and SECC.

STAGE BRANCH
In 1996 Nadine McKenzie joined forces enabling
students to study Tap, ballet, modern, jazz and
musical theatre. Nadine being R.A.D, B.A.T.D and Imperial trained, students are successfully
sitting exams in B.A.T.D and I.S.T.D gaining scholarship nominations and awards.The school has received many certificates of excellent technique throughout examinations.

COMPETITION SUCCESS
Students take part in Highland and stage dance
championships world wide.Since 1962 a constant steady flow of trophies and championship titles have been won.Every Highland Dancing championship title within the UK including two world champions, Scottish modern championships and Central Scotland song and dance championships.The school has won highest marked school trophies at the following competitions:S.D.T.A stage dance festival Dumbarton UKA Championships
International Festival of Dancing (Musselburgh)
B.A.T.D Stage dance Festival and Championships Zetland Stage Dance Festival North of England ChampionshipsThe school has won the highest marks in the following sections:

Grade Dancers

Cabaret Troupes

PROFESSIONAL WORK
Students from the school are gaining professional work as dancers in the Cabaret show ’ÄúA Night to Remember’Äù. It is full of energy and quick changing dance routines which is a good stepping stone for our students who wish to have a future in dance.The show tours all over the UK and this year will be performing at the B.A.T.D conferencein Manchester.
